This post was a long time coming and I'm excited to finally be able to put all the pieces together to make a blog about the States and Capitals Workbook using the Memoria Press curriculum.
While I am sure there are many ways to learn and memorize the states and capitals, we've only really used Memoria Press States and Capital curriculum and so I can only speak on our experience of it here.

I do not know how you grew up learning and memorizing all the states and capitals but we recited once a week on the overhead transparency, every new state and capital we learned. Unfortunately, it did not stick with me as an adult. Mostly because I haven't reviewed them and while I can tell all the states, the capitals are still a little tricky.
When I saw how simple this was going to be and to teach, both my daughter and I looked forward to it.
Each page is simple and what I like to call "clutter" free. It leaves room for creativity. As you can see in the pictures, my daughter made the state's birds as well as the flower. One thing she wished the workbook had was a space to draw those things and an opportunity to color each state flag like they do for Geography.

This study can be done independently which is a plus for us when you're homeschooling multiple children.
One of the pros is the book that comes with the curriculum that my daughter enjoyed reading, Don't Know Much About the 50 States.
On top of learning through the workbook, we also add in games and puzzles. Puzzles being the best way to review them in my opinion.

We also played our own games with this blank U.S.A. pads on Amazon.

I also made some flashcards! I hand drew them hoping to get the exact shape of each state. That is actually very challenging to figure out the smaller states what they could be, but I think it's good practice 😉

And for more review, a spelling practice list as well.
I hope this was helpful in giving you ideas on how to study Memoria Press' States and Capitals.
Would love to connect with you if you're interested in this curriculum or would like more information about homeschooling.
